A consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, predicted that the metaverse could generate $5 trillion in value by 2030. To achieve this, the metaverse will need to offer positive experiences to its users through the integration of various senses.

OVR Technology displayed a VR headset containing eight aromas that can be mixed to create different scents. The headset is set to be released in 2023 and has previously been used for fragrance marketing, allowing users to experience different environments through smell. Aaron Wisniewski, CEO of OVR Technology, believes that extended reality will soon be integrated with commerce, entertainment, social connection, education, and well-being. That scent gives these experiences "unmatched power."

FireFlare Games plans to launch a VR dating app incorporating immersive sensations like touch once the technology becomes readily available. However, some attendees at CES expressed skepticism about the current state of haptic technology, with one attendee stating it is "far from reality." Despite this, the technology could be integrated into online meetings, allowing users to feel something through haptics.
