Earlier this month, a group of 12 senators led by Democrat Mark Warner and Republican John Thune introduced legislation supported by the White House to empower the Commerce Department to address the concerns posed by TikTok and its over 100 million users in the United States.

This development follows TikTok's statement earlier this week. The company acknowledged that the Biden administration has demanded its Chinese owners divest their stake in the company or risk being banned in the United States.
