Romania's Defense Ministry has denied reports of a Russian missile crossing into its airspace. The authorities detected an aerial target on Friday, most likely a cruise missile, launched from a Russian warship near Crimea.

The target reentered Ukrainian airspace after crossing into Moldova without breaching Romanian territory. The ministry re-routed two MiG fighter jets to increase reaction options, but the situation was later clarified, and the jets resumed their mission.

Ukraine Reports Missile Attacks

Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi reported two Russian Kalibr missiles entering Ukraine after crossing Moldova and Romania. Ukrainian air defense downed ten rockets over Kyiv and one in the western Lviv region.

The attack caused disruptions to Ukraine's energy grid, hitting thermal and hydro generation facilities and high-voltage infrastructure in six regions. Ukraine's Air Force downed at least five drones and five Kalibr missiles.

New Bombardment in Ukraine

The recent attack was on the 14th of October when Russia launched a campaign to attack civilian targets in Ukraine. The bombardment occurred as Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was on a tour of European Union countries, appealing for heavier weapons to beat back Russia's invasion. Zelenskiy's appeal followed multiple explosions across Ukraine caused by missiles fired from vessels in the Black Sea.
