The IMF has yet to approve the release of $1.1 billion, originally due to be disbursed in November of last year, leaving Pakistan with only enough foreign exchange reserves to cover one month's worth of imports.
The conference in Geneva, co-hosted by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, will seek international support for the country after devastating floods last year caused billions of dollars in damage to critical infrastructure and resulted in at least 1,700 deaths.
