France Stock Market Closes Lower on Friday

On Friday, the France stock market closed lower due to declines in the Gas & Water, General Financial, and Foods & Drugs sectors.

At the close of trading in Paris, the CAC 40 index fell 1.52%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.50%.

Top Performers and Losers on the CAC 40

The top performers on the CAC 40 were Thales and Credit Agricole, which fell 0.08% and 0.29%, respectively. Societe Generale was also down 0.59%. On the other hand, the worst performers were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin, Hermes International, and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, which fell 3.04%, 2.69%, and 2.38%, respectively.

Top Performers and Losers on the SBF 120

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Korian Medica, Orpea, and Metropole Television, which rose 1.71%, 1.58%, and 0.26%, respectively. The worst performers were Mcphy Energy, Valneva, and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin, which fell 3.90%, 3.08%, and 3.04%, respectively.

On the Paris Stock Exchange, 328 stocks fell while 240 stocks rose and 80 remained unchanged. The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, remained unchanged at 18.96, a new 52-week high.

Commodity Prices

In the commodity market, gold futures for February delivery rose 0.22% to $1,830.05 per troy ounce. Meanwhile, crude oil for February delivery rose 1.02% to $79.20 per barrel, and the March Brent oil contract rose 1.28% to $84.53 per barrel.

Currency Exchange Rates

In the currency market, the EUR/USD exchange rate rose 0.48% to 1.07, while the EUR/GBP exchange rate remained unchanged at 0.89. The US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.40% to 103.18.
