Dow Jones Industrial Average Climbs 1.14% as US Stocks Close Higher

U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday, with gains in the Technology, Consumer Services, and Healthcare sectors driving shares upward. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.14%, reaching a new 1-month high, while the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite indices increased by 1.33% and 1.99%, respectively.

Top and Bottom Performers in the Dow Jones Industrial Average

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Apple Inc, Walt Disney Company, and Nike Inc, with gains of 3.41%, 2.96%, and 2.25%, respectively. International Business Machines, The Travelers Companies Inc, and Dow Inc were the session's worst performers, with the former two experiencing declines and the latter only seeing a minor increase.

S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite Top and Bottom Performers

SolarEdge Technologies Inc, Enphase Energy Inc, and Signature Bank were the top performers on the S&P 500, while Progressive Corp, Lumen Technologies Inc, and Western Digital Corporation were the index's worst performers. On the NASDAQ Composite, CXApp Inc, Inpixon, and SAB Biotherapeutics Inc led gains, while GlucoTrack Inc, ViewRay Inc, and Altamira Therapeutics Ltd experienced the largest declines.

Lumen Technologies and ViewRay Inc Shares Reach Lows

Shares in Lumen Technologies Inc fell to 5-year lows, dropping 4.47%, while ViewRay Inc shares reached 52-week lows, declining by 39.20%.

CBOE Volatility Index Hits 52-Week Low, Gold Futures Rise

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, decreased by 6.76% to reach a new 52-week low of 17.80. Gold Futures for June delivery increased 1.46% to $2,054.45 a troy ounce.

Oil Prices Fall, EUR/USD Rises, U.S. Dollar Index Futures Decline

In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery and the June Brent oil contract fell, while the EUR/USD currency pair rose by 0.54%. The U.S. Dollar Index Futures declined by 0.48% to settle at 100.68.
