The report placed Polkadot (DOT) and Cosmos (ATOM) in second and third place, respectively. Despite successfully upgrading its consensus mechanism to proof-of-stake in September, Ethereum (ETH) was ranked fourth. Layer 2 networks Optimism (OP) and Polygon (MATIC) also made the top 10 list.
Solana (SOL) Not Included in Santiment's Development Activity Report
Santiment's report also noted that Solana (SOL) has a strong developer community, but its developer activity had deteriorated throughout the previous year. As a result, it was not included in the list of the most active blockchains.
Cardano (ADA) Price Performance in 2022
Cardano (ADA), like much of the cryptocurrency market, had a poor year in terms of price performance. Despite this, it managed to become the protocol with the most development activity in 2022, according to Santiment's report. Cardano ranked sixth in terms of return on investment (ROI), with Internet Computer (ICP), Flow (FLOW), and Polkadot (DOT) among the protocols that outperformed it. Cardano's native token, ADA, is currently trading at around $0.25, down 92% from its all-time high of $3.09.
