The CEO of Untold.io says blockchain technology can democratize financing and open up investment opportunities for filmmakers.

Film festivals have seen an increase in blockchain and crypto-funded film projects and initiatives as Web3 technologies merge with the entertainment industry.

In 2019, the Filmio blockchain platform attended the Sundance Film Festival to scout projects for its blockchain-based entertainment platform, and other notable films have also received support.

Blockchain-based tools by legacy directors and major festivals bring visibility to independent filmmakers who would benefit from them.

Film directors have also been involved in NFTs, such as Anthony Hopkins and Quentin Tarantino, but have faced legal issues with production companies over copyright infringement.
