Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index Falls 0.28%

The S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.28% at the close of trading on Tuesday, following losses in the Gold, Metals & Mining, and Resources sectors.

The session's worst performers were Pointsbet Holdings Ltd, St Barbara Ltd, and Premier Investments Ltd, all of which saw significant drops in their stock prices.

Polynovo Ltd and Platinum Asset Management Ltd See Gains

The best session performers on the S&P/ASX 200 were Polynovo Ltd, which rose 8.70% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.50, and Platinum Asset Management Ltd, which added 4.15% or 0.08 points to end at 2.01. Omni Bridgeway Ltd also saw gains, rising 3.67% or 0.14 points to 3.95 in late trade.

Commodities Trading Sees Losses

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery fell 0.04% or 0.80 to $1,877.00 a troy ounce. Additionally, Crude oil for delivery in February dropped 0.59% or 0.44 to hit $74.19 a barrel, and the March Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.51 to trade at $79.14 a barrel.

Currency Updates

The AUD/USD remained unchanged at 0.13% to 0.69, while the AUD/JPY rose 0.01% to 91.14. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw gains, rising 0.22% to 102.96.
