An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 struck central Turkey on Monday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). It had a depth of 10 km.

Disaster Strikes: Earthquake Damages Buildings in Turkey

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) measured the quake at 7.4 near Kahramanmaras. Images from state broadcaster TRT showed damage to buildings and people gathered on snowy streets. As reported by a Reuters witness, the quake lasted about a minute and shattered windows.
